Renewable Lubricants has introduced Bio-Rust Preventative, a bio-based fluid that provides nontoxic, VOC-free, sustainable corrosion prevention on ferrous and galvanized steel. The nonstaining, water-displacing formulation provides a waxy film that protects ferrous materials in salt and acid-fume (hydrochloric acid) environments and against humidity.

The biodegradable fluid meets the corrosion protection film form MIL-PRF-16173, Class II, Grade 3, according to the company. It provides more than 120 hours of protection in a HCI fume test and more than 80 hours in a 5% salt spray (fog) ASTM D117 test.

In addition to corrosion protection, it can be used as a nonchlorinated metalworking fluid for stamping and drawing applications.
